Now THIS is an impressive shot. I must ironically also note I was at Phipps myself this week! It was not Sunday or as sunny as depicted however after many futile attempts in the butterfly room I was foiled in all endeavors for a photograph, even with the swallowtail and julia butterflies that are VERY used to people, no luck. Remarkably bumblebees are always a riot of movement as our popular puns so accurately indicate, so well done.

For the critique: Its a very good balance of color as usual and whether you intended the result or not, the colors of the flowers to the bee itself play off each-other nicely. To be honest if it was not a blue flower with such a cool green-valued background, the shot would have been unremarkable, perhaps textbook however I must indicate that is NOT the case in the photo itself. It is also good that the crisp detail of the vegetation, particularly the bristles on the flower the bee has alighted upon dissuade any accusations to the photograph's origin as manipulated or altered through any digital assistance. Such natural textures and occurrences are far too tedious to replicate and as an irony with all art, including photography, the capture of color in the most genuine sense is as difficult as trying to catch bubbles. As always, good work, Mayhem!

PS: I myself endeavored some photographs with my shamefully unsophisticated digital camera. Mostly of the orchid room. Upon your interest as a photographer, Tim and I had a playful date-wager: He has a camera with far too many lenses and buttons for me to possibly learn and I, a Nikon. If we were to post such images, would you be beyond an impartial judgment of our game? If you have the time or this proposal piques your interest, let me know! I understand very much if you are busy, either way, best regards! Its always nice to look at your handiwork here on DA.
