B&W or Color?

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 27, 2009, 11:19 AM

I love the ability to change my images to B&W and a lot of the time I shoot with that goal in mind. I can see how I want the image to look in monochrome. The shoot at Western Center this winter (sneaking around abandoned property, hoping to get a few good shots before these building were torn down) challenged my ability to see things in B&W. A lot of the scenes I captured were in the extreme late day with fantastic warm gold tones coming in through broken glass windows. Some snowy days were gray and cloudy, some had fantastic sunsets. The image I am having trouble deciding on is one that was shot in the shadow of the administration building during a decent sunset. I thought as I was shooting this image that it was unfortunate that I would not be able to use it in color form as the light didn't lend itself to a pleasing image. I edited it as B&W and took a step back to the color version and worked it a touch, color correcting and giving a boost to the vibrancy of the image. I am now torn as to which version to include in my upcoming show of this work. Any thoughts?

Yes indeed! I thoroughly approve of the group's concept and hope that more great artists get the exposure they deserve. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write a critique on "Rippled Mirror". I agree with what you said about the distracting upper right corner -- I'm not sure why it turned out so bright.
